This is a true success story of an American homemaker and her husband who overcame numerous obstacles to create an international business. However, like many companies that began as family businesses, it reorganized under outside leadership and ownership. The firm's chocolate chip cookies were so popular that they became the subject of a modern urban legend in the late 1980s and early 1990s.

Cinnamon Sugar Cookies

Mrs. Fields Cinnamon Sugar Butter Cookies is one of the best butter cookies you will find.

Ingredients

Cookies
Topping
2 1/2 cups flour
3 Tbsp white sugar
1/2 tsp aking soda
1 Tbsp ground cinnamon
1/2 tsp salt
1 cup dark brown sugar
1/2 cup white sugar
1 cup salted butter, softened
2 large eggs
2 tsp pure vanilla extract


Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 300 degrees.
  2. in a small bowl combine sugar and cinnamon for topping.
  3. Set aside.
  4. In a medium bowl combine flour, soda and salt.
  5. Mix well with a wire whisk and set aside.
  6. In a large bowl blend sugars with an electric mixer set at medium speed.
  7. Add the butter, and mix to form a grainy paste.
  8. Scrape the sides of the bowl, then add the eggs and vanilla extract.
  9. Mix at medium speed until light and fluffy.
  10. Add the flour mixture and blend at low speed just until combined.
  11. Do not over mix.
  12. Shape dough into 1−inch balls and roll each ball in cinnamon−sugar topping.
  13. Place onto ungreased cookie sheets, 2 inches apart.
  14. Bake for 18−20 minutes.
  15. Immediately transfer cookies with a spatula to a cool, flat surface.
